Be a part of the soul, rhythm
and heritage that is Forever New
Orleans! Take this opportunity
to meet with colleagues from
around the nation and world at
entertaining and fun social
events, thanks to our Louisiana
hosts.
Opening Night:
Louisiana Jamboree
The Best Celebration of New Orleans!
Wednesday, July 23,
6:30pm-9:30pm
The Louisiana Host Committee
welcomes you to an unforgettable
opening reception at the Louisiana
Superdome. Join us for a
family-friendly event--- NCSL’s own
private Jamboree! Tonight you will
enjoy the food, music and
entertainment that makes New Orleans
internationally famous. French
Quarter Jazz, Riverboat Ragtime,
Mardi Gras merriment are all part of
the celebration. A special kids zone
will include karaoke, Rock Climbing,
and Arts and Crafts.

At this fantastic festival of
magical music and food, a variety of
local musicians including Pete
Fountain, Dukes of Dixieland and
Ellis Marsalis will rock your soul
with electrifying performances and
tributes to some of New Orleans’
greatest musical legends, Louis
Armstrong, Fats Domino and more.
Jazz, Rhythm and Blues and New
Orleans Funk . . . all under one big
top on one big night . . . an “only
in New Orleans” experience! Get
Jazzed! Get Rocked! Get Soul!
Closing Night: Gala in the
Arts District
Friday, July 25 ,
6:30pm-9:30pm
“This Land is Your Land”
celebrates the land we fight to
protect from the sacrifices and
courage of World War II to the
battle to save America’s
WETLAND. On Friday night in the
Arts District, rejoice in the
Spirit of our country as New
Orleans opens the doors to
the
only museum in the nation
dedicated to World War II. Music
of the era sweeps you back to a
time when brave men and women
shipped out to defend
international freedom. In this
world-class facility, hear oral
histories of those who united to
protect life, liberty and our
pursuit of happiness. Just steps
away at the Contemporary Arts
Center, enjoy an exhibition of
art, photography and essays of
students that display the beauty
and majesty of our disappearing
Wetland. High energy Cajun Zydeco music will wash over you
like the waves of the Gulf of
Mexico, where barrier islands,
misty marshes, and mysterious
swamps form the first line of
defense for coastal Louisiana.
